Natural Alternatives to Beauty Treatments

Natural Beauty Treatments

Pampering yourself is something that we all enjoy, whether you visit the salon once a week or buy yourself a face mask a have a good long soak in the bath!

Women spend millions of dollars on beauty treatments and pampering and some of these products can contain harsh chemicals that may cause reactions in some people. But there are some wonderful natural alternatives to your regular products that work amazingly! These treatments are safe, free from chemicals and additives and you can often find the ingredients right at home.

Face Masks

Yoghurt is fantastic for skin as it is cooling and nourishing, especially if you are prine to dry skin. Simply mix ¼ cup of plain natural yoghurt with a dessertspoon of honey and apply to the face. The honey acts as a natural antibacterial agent and is also amazing at healing. Leave this on for 15 minutes and then remove with warm water. You can cover any that is left over and store it in the fridge for two days.

Another great natural face mask is avocado. We all know that avocado is hugely nutritious and when applied to the face, it will nourish mature, sensitive and dry skin and is really refreshing and moisturising. Mash ½ avocado with a dessertspoon of honey and apply it as you would a normal face mask. After 15 minutes, remove it with warm water.

Hair Treatments

You can also use mashed up avocado on your hair. Its moisturising properties treat dry and damaged hair, giving wonderful shine and smoothness. You can use it in the same way that you would do with a shop-bought deep conditioning treatment, applying after shampooing and then rinsing through with warm water. You can also add some natural yoghurt to the avocado hair treatment to give that extra condition and manageability and feel free to leave this on for 15 to 30 minutes.

It has been said that those old wives tales of raw eggs and beer give your hair a really great shine! But you can also use olive oil. I know it sounds a little odd! But olive oil is one of nature’s great moisturisers, especially for hair. If you have hair that is sun or colour damaged, rub some olive oil into dry hair a few hours before you plan to wash it, tie it up and leave for a few hours and then shampoo as you would normally, ensuring to rinse really well. The olive oil helps to heal damaged split ends and it gives you the most amazing glossy mane!

Foot Soak

Spending all day on your feet can leave tired and aching. A great way to unwind is to give yourself a soothing foot soak and add a few tablespoons of baking soda to the warm water. This is a great way to soothe and refresh your feet. The baking soda will soften any hard or rough skin and if you ever get itchy feet from running around all day, this natural alternative will soothe away any irritation.

If you have any of your own natural alternatives to beauty treatments, please do let us know! Happy pampering!
