Top 10 Beauty Secrets from the Beauty Editors

Top 10 Secrets of a Beauty Editor

Want to know the behind the scenes beauty secrets? Well Oprah.com shares the top 10 secrets of a beauty editor, the secrets that will keep you young, fresh and glowing...just what we all want!

1. The one thing we always drink to: water. But Oprah.com says to forget the eight glasses a day rule—just drink enough so that you're not thirsty. When you are dehydrated, your skin will look dull, flaky and dry so keep yourself well quenched. Plus drinking a glass of water before each meal, means you are less likely to overeat.

2. Sunscreen is the closest thing we have to a fountain of youth. Use at least SPF 15 every day. UV radiation is the major source of skin cancer and will speed up the aging process of the skin.

3. You can get a prettier complexion while you sleep...with retinoids. Vitamin-A derivative prescription retinoids are still the top choice when stimulating new collagen, exfoliating your pores, and encouraging cell turnover is on your to-do list. So Oprah.com recommend adding a retinoid to your nighttime beauty routine.

4. Treat your hands and neck the way you treat your face. The skin on the neck and hands is thinner than the skin on the face, but most women don't care for it as well. So rub any treatment or lotion/cream to your neck and hands once you have applied it to your face.

5. Buy a self-tanner and look like you just came back from holiday. "Apply a moisturizing body lotion that includes a self-tanner to hide spider veins on your legs and to get a slimming effect all over."

6. There's gold in those pharmacies. Take advantage of cheaper cleansers, moisturisers, and other treatments that work just as well as luxury brands. Cosmetic companies that produce pharmacy products want you to be loyal to them, so they put a lot of funding into their product development.

7. Facials can be expensive, but 'glow' is free. Oprah.com says that exercising gives you improved circulation and oxygen capacity. This means that you get that healthy glow everyone wants.

8. We never met an antioxidant we didn't like. Free radicals speed up the aging process so it is essential to eat a diet rich in fruit and vegetables. These foods all contain antioxidants like coenzyme Q10 and vitamins which will help to mop up the free radicals and reverse some of the damage already caused.

9. One perfect, classic haircut is worth more than all the styling products in the world. A haircut is a bit like a dress: If you start with excellent tailoring and style, accessorising the outfit is all but unnecessary although still very fun!

10. Good actions = good looks. Doing a deed that makes you feel great about yourself means you are more likely to be happy on the inside and look happy on the outside. And, according to research, a person who looks happy looks more attractive than the same person looking sad. So do something kind, smile and always always wear your sunscreen.
