Inspirational Story of a Good Friend

Cooking For Two...

Janet wrote in to us about her friend Ann, a very dear friend of hers who has supported her and others though many tough times, a wonderful woman who always makes sure she cooks for two people, not just herself.

Read Janet and Ann's story below...

"Kia ora,

My friend Ann Thompson is a quiet spoken, unassuming woman. I know she does many things for many people, just because she heard they needed help or because asked for help or because she knew her friends needed her.

I can only speak for myself but she listens when I am excited or down, supports all my mad ideas and ventures and has never uttered anything but encouragement. She knows I often go for days without cooking properly for myself and even though we are both on tough times, she will make meals and give one to me. If she makes her famous pumpkin soup she calls me straight away to come and get it!

She doesn't have a car and walks miles to help others and is often unrewarded by organisations that she works for as a volunteer. I cannot convey enough how much this woman gives.

You would never hear her blow her own trumpet so I would love you to bugle for Africa for her and give her her due time in the spotlight. Sadly I have no pic of her...she is always in the kitchen! I am pretty certain, like most people she was not quite sure how to take me, we live in totally different worlds, but this lady can make any persons world feel ok. Please please acknowledge her!

Thanks for your time. Ka kite, Janet"
