3 Minute Therapy
With today’s busy lifestyles, where we have to multitask our way through the day, how can you squeeze in that relaxation time for yourself and give yourself the therapeutic, healing time that you really crave?
We have come up with a list of short but highly effective 3 Minute Therapies. Whether your therapy is beauty therapy, relaxation therapy, music therapy or just plain silence therapy, these methods are guaranteed to help you wind down and relax and get back into your day with a clear head and a smile on your face.
Phone A Friend: Or family member, whoever you can rely on to understand you and empathise with your worries. Talking it out is the most effective therapy around…why do you think so many celebrities go to their shrinks every week? So when you feel the pressure start to rise, call on those who are close to you, pour your heart out, and feel better. And being a listening ear for them too in times of trouble is just part of the deal.
Dance Your Heart Out: We all have that song or that album or that band that make us want to dance around like a teenager! And this is definitely a great stress reliever. Find an empty room, put on your favourite song, and dance your heart out! You will definitely be smiling after this and you can dance out your stress in no time.
Speedy Beauty: Are you the kind of person that relaxes with a good old pampering? Well in 3 minutes, you can do something special for yourself: whether it’s a manicure, pedicure or a face mask, just allowing yourself the time for a bit of pampering just for you will help you get the time for yourself that you really need. Find out exactly what it us that helps you unwind and just do it! I love soaking my feet in warm water with some essential oils. Pick an oil like lavender which is soothing and calming. Inhale the vapours and feel calmer in no time.
Therapeutic Meditation: Some people think that meditation is just for Buddhist Monks but us normal, busy, stressed out people can benefit from it too, even in 3 minutes. The key is in the breathing. Find a quiet place, lie on your back and place your hands on your tummy. Breathe in deeply through your nose for 8 counts, feeling your tummy rise, and breathe out through your mouth slowly for another 8 counts. It doesn’t matter if you can’t empty your mind, just focus on your breath and on feeling your belly rise and fall. Imagine all the tension melting away through the floor underneath you. Once the 3 minutes is over, you will feel refreshed and calm and ready to get back to your day.
With these mini therapies, you can soothe yourself and calm your mind throughout the day, even in the most stressful situations. Try it for yourself! And enjoy the results.
